What do I do if an item I checked out gets damaged?
Take the item to the circulation desk at the library and inform them of the damage. The item will be given to the Library Director for evaluation.
What do I do if I lose an item that I’ve checked out?
If you lose a library book or other checked out item, contact the library to let them know. The Library Director will be made aware of the situation and determine next steps.
If the damage is minor, can I repair it myself before returning it?
No. Please do not try to repair items yourself. We have special tools and trained individuals that are able to repair it properly.
How long can I keep an item before it is considered lost?
When an item becomes 90 days overdue, it is marked in our catalog system as “lost.” You can still renew the book up until it is 60 days or more overdue. At that point, you will have to return the book or bring it in for us to re-check it out to you.
Can I just buy a replacement at the store or online?
No. We’d prefer you pay us to replace the book. There may be a particular edition or format that we prefer, and we have specific book distributors that we prefer to order from.
Will I be charged for damaged or lost items?
Yes. Items unable to be returned to the shelves due to damage or items that have been declared lost will be charged to your account. You will not be able to check out any more items until at least a portion of the amount is paid.
