How do I checkout books and other items?
Once you have found the items that you’d like to checkout, bring them to the circulation desk. Hand the items and your library card to a staff member, and they will check your items out to you.
How long can I keep the items I checkout?
Most items are checked out for two weeks. DVDs and magazines are due back in just one week.
Can I renew my items in order to keep them longer?
Yes. Items can be renewed up to two times. You can renew your items by phone, text, email, in person, or by logging into your account on our online catalog. If an item you’ve checked out has been reserved by another patron or if it has already been renewed two times or if it is more than 90 days overdue, you will not be able to renew it.
Can I put my name on a list for a book that is currently checked out to someone else?
Yes. We can put a book on reserve for you, and once the book has been returned we will call you to tell you it is here. The book will be held for you behind the circulation desk for two weeks before being returned to the shelves.
Are there fines for overdue items?
No. We no longer have overdue fees. However, if the item is overdue by more than 90 days, it will be considered lost, your account will be blocked, and a charge will be placed on your account for the full cover price for the replacement of the book.
What if I return items that have already been declared lost?
If materials are returned to the library in good condition after they have been declared lost, the Library Director will make a determination as to the fees to be charged. Value of the item to the collection and whether it has already been replaced will be considered in this evaluation. If the materials are put back in the collection after being declared lost, a minimum fee of $5.00 may be charged. If a patron pays the replacement charge and later returns the “lost” item to the library, no refund will be given.
