How do I get a Gering Public Library card?

Visit the circulation desk and tell the staff that you’d like to get a library card. Adults will be asked to present a valid ID. You will be given a short form to fill out with your information on it. The staff member will enter that information into the computer system and ask you a couple of other questions about some preferences you may have. You will receive your card, which includes a wallet-sized card and a key tag to put on your keychain.

What if I forget my card at home?

If you forget your card at home, you can still checkout items by either presenting a valid ID or providing some identifying information so we know you are who you say you are.

What happens if I lose my library card?

You can get a replacement card at any time for $2. The card number on the new card will be different from your previous one.

Can someone else checkout books on my library card?

Yes. If they are with you or if they have your physical card with them, they are able to checkout books on your account. They cannot checkout books on your account without a physical card unless you are with them.
